Hardware, and what is worth knowing about it. There are four lists pinned in here: 500-series preamps, 500-series compressors, 500-series EQs, and hardware synthesisers. Twenty each. They exist because the same questions keep coming: what goes in a lunchbox, what is it actually for, and where do I buy it in Europe. What the lists are not: Nobody is paid to appear in them. There are no affiliate links. Every link goes either to the maker or to a shop, and MEY earns nothing either way. They are not a ranking. There is no measurement that says one preamp is number three and another is number seven. They are a spread: across price, across topology, across makers big and small, filtered down to what you can still buy new. Prices are a snapshot, checked on 14 September 2026, including VAT unless noted. They move. Treat them as a bracket, not a quote. Every maker in those lists is doing serious work, including the cheap ones. If you own something that belongs on a list and is not there, say so in a reply and say why.
